Mountain High is proud to announce Video Wars; a competition highlighting action sports videographers in the winter sports industry. All too often, the talented artists behind the camera get over-looked. Video Wars aspires to be the champion for the producers, videographers, and editors by providing them a stage to showcase their talents.

Says John McColly, Director of Marketing, “This event invests in those on the other side of the lens. The folks who put in countless hours on the snow and behind their computers to bring skiing and snowboarding to the big screen.”

Video Wars consists of three separate categories; Best Riding, Best Editing and Best Overall Video. It is up to the videographer to put together the best crew and capture all the elements of action sports such as riding, lifestyle and scenery. Additional recognition will be given to on screen talent but the event primarily highlights the men and women that produce, shoot, and edit the hours of footage we enjoy.

Winners in each of the 3 categories will receive a 2008/09 Mountain High Season Pass, a Video Wars Trophy, and product from Monster Energy and associate sponsors. The top videos will then be featured on snowboardermag.com, futuresnowboarding.com, transworldsnowboarding.com, and FUEL.TV.

Video Wars takes place now through February 16th, 2008. Competitors can register online at http://www.mthigh.com/video_wars. Registration is FREE and competitors can begin filming at any time. On Saturday, February 16th, celebrity judges will decide the winners at a 5:00pm awards ceremony in Mountain High’s Bullwheel Bar & Grill. After all the videos have been previewed, the winners will be announced and the After Party begins.

Participants may compile actions shots at any of Mountain High’s three resorts. Lift tickets are the riders and/or videographers responsibility. Each video must be four minutes in length or less and filmed and edited by noon on February 16th. No prior footage will be allowed and anyone caught using said footage will be disqualified. Videos should include sick riding, colorful lifestyle and creative cinematography. Artistic freedom is encouraged however the following exceptions do apply:
-No drug use.
-No foul language.
-No gross sexual conduct.
-No blatant destruction of property.
Beyond that, pretty much anything goes.

Says McColly, “We invite you all to join us February 16th for the first annual Video Wars at Mountain High.”

Shaun White cited at Breckenridge
Olympic Gold Medal winner/Professional Snowboarder Shaun White aka "The Flying Tomato" was cited on Wednesday December 18th in Colorado while in the Beaver Run Resort (Breckenridge)

for setting off a fire extinguisher without cause...maybe he saw his hair and thought he was on fire....whatever the case he made the AP better known as the Associated Press, check this link for a more detailed account. Every once and a while these guys need to let some steam loose, you know being able to rip at the top three board sport is enough. Don't judge the guy to hard, he is only 21 and already won a gold medal....stay tuned.
